Dates of Service
We advertise the service as running between Easter and mid-October. When Easter is late in the year we may open a few weeks earlier (the exact date will be on the Home Page banner). The exact date of closure in October is largely dependent on weather and customer numbers. (Please bear in mind that we receive no Government or Council subsidy for running the service, and as a Community Interest Company we cannot afford to run at a loss.) We will endeavour to give as much advance warning of season closure as possible.
Bad weather closure
We may not be able to maintain service sometimes because of high winds, (generally northerly winds above Force 8). It is difficult to give customers significant advance notice of this. Signs indicating closure will be posted at Sheil Bridge and Ashaig road ends and at the Ferry junction in Glenelg, although there may be a short gap between the service being cancelled and notices being posted, because of the distances involved.
Times of service Seven days a week between 10am and 6pm (10am to 7pm June, July, August). Every 20 minutes or as required. |
